GMU Inventions Highly Awarded at International Warsaw Invention Show

On 14 to 16 October 2024, the 18th edition of the International Warsaw Invention Show took place at Warsaw University of Technology. The event is organised by the Association of Polish Inventors and Innovators (SPWiR). The International Warsaw Invention Show is Poland's largest international event promoting invention and innovation. One of the primary goals of the event, besides the promotion of the scientific achievements of Polish scientists and inventors against the backdrop of global solutions, is to enable contact with potential investors and create innovative attitudes among children and young people.

The GMU Technology Transfer Office was represented at the event by Innovation Brokers Beata Wetoszka and Marlena Żur-Lewandowska, who presented the services offered by the University and solutions with implementation potential developed at the University's laboratories.

The highlight of the event for the Technology Transfer Office team was the competition for the best of innovation in 2024, during Which the innovation brokers presented GMU inventions to an international commission. The Jury assessed the market potential of the solutions presented; the strategy taken for their legal protection, including the submission of industrial property items to the Polish Patent Office, the European Patent Office and the European Union Intellectual Property Office, the level of technological readiness and ecological considerations. The reduction of the impact of negative factors on human health and life, and safety and the environment were also important factors in the assessment. Inventions presented at the Show were evaluated within the following categories: mechanical engineering, construction, electronics and informatics, and chemical industries.

The Honorary Patron of the event is the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda.

The exhibition brought together inventors and guests not only from Poland but also from more than 25 other countries around the world, including Saudi Arabia, Croatia, Egypt, Iran, Canada, Malaysia, Korea, Turkey, Romania and Taiwan. The innovations presented provide an overview of technical achievements already in use or awaiting commercialisation and implementation. The Invention Show also includes lectures and talks on the protection of intellectual property and networking between the academic community and business.
