Gdynia Maritime University Involved in Work of Hospitality Research Alliance
Gdynia Maritime University and the Jagiellonian University have been involved in research conducted by the Global Hospitality Research Alliance. The study aims to compile experiences and information on working conditions in the hospitality, tourism, and travel agency sectors in Poland. The work is part of larger international, anonymous research, the results of which will be published in Autumn 2025.
The research is currently being undertaken in over twenty countries around the world. The data collected will be used to prepare reports for industry stakeholders, businesses, governments, and policymakers. The research findings may also be used in academic publications and presentations.
The Global Hospitality Research Alliance is a burgeoning collective of international activists dedicated to advancing knowledge related to employment issues in the hospitality sector. Its mission is to produce high-quality research that addresses challenges within the hospitality sector, ultimately contributing to better working conditions for the sector’s employees.
The global project is coordinated by Professor David Williamson and Professor Candice Harris of Auckland University of Technology (AUT), New Zealand. The project’s partners are researchers from more than twenty countries, including New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Australia, France, Ireland, Greece, Sweden, Norway, Canada, Spain, Germany, Thailand, Vietnam, the Netherlands, and the United States.
The Gdynia Maritime University academic community is especially proud of the fact that Associate Professor Dr Joanna Kizielewicz is a member of the Polish GHRA team, alongside Associate Professor Ewa Wszendybył-Skulska and Adam Jezierski from the Jagiellonian University, responsible for the coordination of research in our country.
Professor Kizielewicz is the author of more than 130 scientific publications in national and international journals. She has received many awards, including an Honorary Badge for Services to Tourism, awarded by the Ministry for Sport and Tourism and a National Education Committee Medal.
