GMU Nominated For a Second Time in “Eureka DGP – Discover Polish Inventions” Competition.

Once again Professor Krzysztof Górecki, Dr Paweł Górecki, and Adrian Pietruszka, a doctoral candidate at the GMU Doctoral School, have received a nomination as part of the “Eureka DGP  – Discover Polish Inventions” competition. This time the nomination for the invention “A Method for measuring the thermal resistance of the soldered connection of a power transistor and a circuit for measuring the thermal resistance of the soldered connection of a power transistor”.

The invention is used to control the quality of the surface assembly of semiconductor power instruments on printed circuit boards with aluminium core (MCPCB) for the electronic and electrotechnical industries. It enables the thermal resistance of the soldered joint connecting the semiconductor power device to the plate to be determined. The value of this parameter allows for the optimisation of the cooling system of the semiconductor power device and extends its reliable operating time, as well as guaranteeing the durability of the device containing the printed circuit board. The invention provides an alternative to the costly technological processes and the harmful X-ray inspection methods used by operators.

The solution is part of the GMU portfolio of technical solutions under the care of the GMU Technology Transfer Office and is promoted by innovation broker Marlena Żur-Lewandowska.

The Eureka! competition is organised by the Dziennik Gazeta Prawna newspaper to promote Polish science and inventions originating at universities, research institutes, and within the scientific units of the Polish Academy of Sciences, which have been registered for protection at the Polish Patent Office. The results of the competition will be announced in June. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for all GMU solutions.

Our sincere congratulations to the team!
