Legendary Club Returns with a New Look
After years of hiatus, the student club, ‘Bukszpryt’ — one of the most iconic meeting places in the history of the University and the city – is making a comeback at Gdynia Maritime University.
The historic club’s origins hark back to the 60s and 70s. In 2005, it was reopened in an adapted uniform warehouse.
Throughout the decades, Bukszpryt, or Bowsprit in English, became one of the most legendary social venues for the maritime community.
In 2025, the locale will be reborn as Pub&Club Bukszpryt – a modern social and cultural venue, blending tradition with modern style.
After a thorough renovation carried out with attention to detail and respect for the venue’s unique character, the club is once again opening its doors.
The grand opening of the new Pub&club will take place on 23 October 2025 during a special event combining the inauguration of the academic year and Mechanical Engineer’s Day.
The new Bukszpryt will offer students and the University community recreation and entertainment:
- pool and games room (darts, board games),
- themed evenings, karaoke, and pub quizzes,
- concerts, cabaret, and stand-up comedy, in an intimate atmosphere.
There will also be the possibility to host private events – such as anniversaries, festive gatherings, birthdays, and special occasions for the University community.
Bukszpryt is one of only two such venues in the Tricity areas that have survived for long and despite the many changes in academic life.
The venue returns with a new logo, a fresh new interior, and the same spirit – a meeting place filled with conversation and the vibrant energy of the maritime community. See you on board at Bukszpryt Pub&club – coming soon, on 23 October!
